Setting up your home

Once you are in your house, you will want to start making it a home. We provide you with something called a setting up home allowance.

This is an allowance that is provided to you to purchase things you need for your home and can be used towards -

  • furniture
  • flooring
  • TV licence
  • decorating costs
  • contents insurance
  • white goods such as
    • washing machines

You can access this allowance through your personal advisor and they will support you with making decisions about what you might need.

This allowance is currently £3,000 (if you turned 18 after 1 April 2023). You only get one setting up home allowance so it is important to plan how you will spend this with your personal advisor.

If you move home, we will help you to do this and will pay for removal costs where we agree with you that this is needed.
